Single User Requirements (formerly named Stand-alone)

A single user stand-alone installation is in fact an installation where both a server and a client are operating on the same machine.

Stand-alone computers are meant to be used by a single user for collecting data for printout or export to a server setup. If you want to do searching and matching at the stand-alone, you should take a look at the Workgroup Server Requirements

Hardware
Combined SQL- , Application Server and Client

1 * 2 core CPU (i.e. a laptop with Intel i5-2410M or later),
128 GB disk, preferably SSD
4 GB RAM, preferably 8 GB.

Software

Windows 7 SP1, 8 or 8.1 Pro, 10 Pro 64bit or 32bit (Windows 10, 64bit recommended), with the Internet Information Services components installed
Silverlight 5 - compatible web browser, recommended Internet Explorer 11.
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or later,  - Express* or higher, SQL Express 2016 recommended.
With the Express edition, there is a 10GB maximum database size which effectively limits the storage for attachments (images, documents etc.). The Express editions also limits the CPU and memory utilisation, but not to levels that significantly affects single users.

Future requirement

You probably won't by buying SQL Server licenses for single-user deployment as the Express edition is available for free, but IF you are buying new SQL Server licenses, please be aware that Windows 10 and SQL Server 2016 SP1 is a future minimum requirement from installation of version 6, so consider getting Software Assurance or other protection of your current investment. Otherwise, you must prepare for re-installation of the free SQL Server Express on your stand-alone computers by this date, and ensure that your single user computers comply with the requirements of SQL Server 2016 SP1 Express or later as published by Microsoft..
